Broadcast and live-event crews care about two things above all: the signal reaching the switcher without converters, and the wire count staying manageable during load-in.
Recommended setup
- Field cameras: OK-4K12X — native 3G-SDI drops straight into an existing truck
- IP workflow: OK-4K20X for NDI-native environments where video, control, tally and power share one Ethernet run
- Switching: OK-SW4 for four-input shows with multiview and direct RTMP streaming
- Control: OK-KB500 — VISCA over IP and serial at the same time across mixed cameras
Why skip converters
Every HDMI-to-SDI converter is another part that can fail at 6am, another power supply, another strip of Velcro. Native SDI removes the failure point and about $150 of adapter per camera.
Bandwidth planning
Full NDI runs roughly 120-200 Mbps per stream. Four cameras needs a managed gigabit switch with NDI traffic on its own VLAN. Send us your switch model and we will tell you whether your network carries it.
